CONTEXT

Administrative and biographical history: David Trevor William Price was born in 1943. He was educated at Keble College, Oxford, gaining his BA in 1965 and his MA in 1969. He went on to attend Sarum and Wells Theological College, and was ordained as a deacon in 1972, and as a priest in 1973.
From 1970 to 1987, Price held the position of Lecturer in History at St. David's University College, Lampeter. He become senior lecturer in 1987, a position he would hold until leaving the college ten years later. He took on the role of college chaplain for the year 1979-80, and was made Dean of the Chaplaincy in 1990. In 1979, he was made a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, and in 1982 became diocesan archivist for St. David's. Price is also a member of the Ecclesiastical History Society and, since 1995, a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.
Price held the role of Priest in Charge at Betws Bledwrs, from 1986 to 1997. He was made an Honorary Canon of St. David's Cathedral in 1990, and in 1992 became a Canon. He left Lampeter in 1997 to become Vicar of Kidwelly and Llandyfaelog, a position that he still holds today.

CONTENT

Scope and content: The archive contains papers concerning Price's involvement with the Archbishop of Wales' Commission on the Boundaries and Structure of the Church in Wales, along with notes and drafts of the college history, and of addresses delivered by Price on the subject.

Immediate source of acquisition: The papers were accumulated at the University of Wales, Lampeter by Rev Price whilst researching and writing his books A History of St. David's University College, Lampeter , Vols. 1 and 2, (University of Wales Press, 1977 and 1990), and simultaneously holding the position of Honorary Archivist at the University of Wales, Lampeter.
