Administrative and biographical history: Thomas Henry (Harri) Jones (1921-1965) was a poet and university lecturer. He was born in Llanafan Fawr, Brecknockshire. He served in the Royal Navy, 1941-1946. He attended UCW Aberystwyth, graduating in English in 1947 and gaining an MA in 1949. He taught in Portsmouth, Hampshire, 1951-1959, then emigrated to Australia to lecture at Newcastle College, New South Wales. He wrote poetry in English and published three volumes: The Enemy in the Heart (1957), Songs of a Mad Prince (1960) and The Beast at the Door (1963). He drowned on 30 January 1965 and was survived by his wife, Madeline Scott, and three daughters. The Colour of Cockcrowing (1966) and The Collected Poems of T. Harri Jones (1977) were published posthumously. An exhibition on his life was mounted in 1967.
