CONTEXT
Administrative and biographical history: Baptist services first began at Ystradfechan Farm, Treorchy (Treorci), Glamorgan, in 1870, when a schoolroom was built to accommodate worshippers under the supervision of the ministers of Bethany, at Treherbert, and Noddfa, at Treorchy. The first Horeb chapel was constructed in 1874. The establishment of Bethel Baptist Church, Cwm-parc, in 1904, drew some members away from Horeb although the two chapels initially shared a minister. The chapel was extended in 1905-1906, but has been subsequently demolished.
